i think that it is not true.how would you feel if some one uses 'colourful language' to scold you?you would definitely feel upset.or if someone spread rumors about you,you would surely feel very miserable and upset.this is because words CAN hurt you. i think that we should not hurt people in this way as it makes people feel more miserable. We should put ourselves in to other people's shoes and thing if it's the right thing to do.
